A non-breeding summer visitor from the Palearctic. Scarce. Single birds occur widely but sparsely across the Waterberg along rivers and on the margins of dams (recorded in 21% of the Waterberg pentads); it is the most frequently encountered and the most numerous of the migrant waders.
