A breeding resident. More common in the surrounding thorn savanna than in the Waterberg (44% in, 56% out; recorded in 74% of the Waterberg pentads) it is curiously absent from much of the Waterberg’s interior; fairly common, it occurs in any woodland but avoids the rocky, hilly areas; singly, in pairs or in small groups after breeding. Breeds in summer.
