Status uncertain, perhaps resident with an influx of winter visitors? Scarce and sparsely recorded across the southern half of the Waterberg; commoner in the surrounding thorn savanna (32% in, 68% out; recorded in 23% of the Waterberg pentads); frequents open woodland; occurs singly or in pairs.
