A resident. Scarce but widespread across rocky upland areas of the Waterberg, largely absent from surrounding thorn savanna (94% in, 6% out; recorded in 22% of the Waterberg pentads). Not often seen, and mostly detected by hearing its far-carrying, melodious “ti-lit-it-teeo” call at sunrise and sunset; it is likely that it breeds here but evidence is lacking.
