An erratic visitor. Rare in the Waterberg (recorded in 3% of Waterberg pentads); commoner in the surrounding thorn savanna where it is mainly present between Jan and Jun and is thought to be a non-breeding visitor from the north. Typically occurs singly; is easily overlooked given its nocturnal habits.
