Prodotiscus regulus Brown-backed Honeybird Skerpbekheuningvoël

Modimolle, Jan 2020

BelaBela, Sep 2017
A breeding resident. Scarce, occurring sparsely across the Waterberg in wooded areas (recorded in 16% of the Waterberg pentads). It is unobtrusive, easily overlooked and easily mistaken for Spotted Flycatcher (and vice versa); when breeding, males call from high dead branches in woodland. Breeds in summer, parasitising cisticolas and prinias; in Nylsvley Nature Reserve the Neddicky is a recorded host.
