A breeding resident. Largely absent from the surrounding thorn savanna and from the drier north, it occurs widely but sparsely across the southern half of the Waterberg (85% in, 15% out; recorded in 28% of the Waterberg pentads); frequents woodland, mostly associated with drainage lines; a colonial breeder, it occurs year-round in small flocks. Frequently breeds alongside Village Weavers – there is evidence from some colonies that it is being displaced in the Waterberg by this species. Breeds in summer.
