A vagrant. Single birds are occasionally recorded on several of the larger dams in the Waterberg: Doorndraai Dam (Nov 2011, Jan 2019) and on dams at Rooiberg (Sep 2012), Lapalala Wilderness (Nov 2018) and VistaVistas (Mar 2023); in the 1980s and early 1990s single birds were regularly seen on Mogol Dam but there are no recent records from here.
