A breeding resident. Common and widespread both across the Waterberg and in the surrounding thorn savanna (51% in, 49% out; recorded in 87% of the Waterberg pentads); favours open country, especially areas under agriculture; gregarious, in groups while breeding and in larger flocks at other times of the year. Breeds in summer.
