Goergap Dam, Nov 2017
A breeding resident. Rare, but a small number of individuals are permanently present on several of the larger farm dams in the Waterberg, these dams characterized by having a substantial cover of Nymphaea lilies and by being fringed by sedges; the Waterberg population probably numbers fewer than 20 pairs. Breeds in Feb-Mar, and the birds have nested in artificial nest logs placed out specifically for them.
