A non-breeding summer visitor from the Palearctic, present between late Oct and Apr. Common and widespread across the Waterberg, less so in the surrounding thorn savanna (76% in, 24% out; recorded in 78% of the Waterberg pentads); a solitary species while here, it frequents open woodland, hawking for insects from the lower branches of trees.
