A breeding resident. A localised aquatic species, largely restricted in the Waterberg to open stretches of water along the mid- and lower-reaches of the Mogol and Palala rivers; erratically present elsewhere (recorded in 23% of the Waterberg pentads); found singly or in pairs. It must certainly breed in the Waterberg but thus far unrecorded.
