Assumed to be a breeding resident. Uncommon; recorded widely but sparsely in broad-leafed woodland, mainly from the southern areas of the Waterberg (recorded in 13% of the Waterberg pentads); its presence is mostly detected from the aerial display of male birds in summer and from this it is assumed to breed in the area.
