A breeding resident with apparent influxes of non-breeding birds in winter. Uncommon, with scattered records, most of these from the drier western half of the Waterberg (recorded in 20% of the Waterberg pentads); occurs in any woodland, singly, in pairs or in small parties. Breeds in summer.
