Status uncertain. There are currently two records, (photographically confirmed) – see alongside – a male mist netted in Lapalala in Jul 2023 and a female which joined a group of Black-faced and Violet-eared Waxbills drinking at a cattle trough in Jun 2018. How does one explain the presence of these forest-loving birds in the Waterberg?
