An erratic non-breeding visitor. Rarely recorded in the Waterberg where single birds or small flocks occur from time to time (recorded in 5% of the pentads); usually on farm dams; one flock of 63 at a feed-lot near Bokpoort in Aug 2018; it is regularly present in the agricultural areas in the surrounding thorn savanna.
