Hirundo albigularis | White-throated Swallow | Witkeelswael

Vaalwater, Mar 2021

Modimolle, Jan 2018

A breeding summer visitor, present between Aug and Apr. Fairly common in the southern half of the Waterberg, less so in the lower-lying northern areas, and much less common in the surrounding thorn savanna (73% in, 27% out; recorded in 37% of the Waterberg pentads); it occurs in pairs which are closely tied to suitable breeding sites, these mostly along rivers where high-level bridges or other man-made structures provide nest sites. Breeds in early summer.
