Hippolais olivetorum | Olive-tree Warbler | Olyfboomsanger

Lephalale, Mar 2020

A non-breeding summer visitor from the Palearctic, present between Dec and Mar. A thornveld species that occurs sparsely and patchily in the surrounding thorn savanna, with a single record within the Waterberg from Lephalala area in Dec 2008; a skulking, solitary species frequenting the interior of dense acacia thickets (especially Vachellia tortilis and Senegalia mellifera), its presence given away by its guttural warbling song; easily overlooked.
