This venerable old tree, now about 500 years old, stands in the road reserve alongside the R33 between Modimolle and Vaalwater – it is close to the entrance to the Goat Cheese Farm at -24.5168, 28.2527. As shown in the photo, part of its trunk has been sawn off to reveal no less than 482 growth rings.
Widespread but sparse in the Waterberg, occuring mostly along drainage lines.
