Eremomela usticollis | Burnt-necked Eremomela | Bruinkeelbossanger

Modimolle, May 2020

Molalatau, Jun 2018
A breeding resident. An arid savanna species; it is common in the surrounding thorn savannas, ranging marginally into the fringes of the Waterberg and elsewhere wherever outliers of its favoured thornveld habitat occur (37% in, 64% out; recorded in 42% of the Waterberg pentads); in pairs year-round, they frequent the canopies of Vachellia tortilis and other thorn species; their presence is mostly given away from hearing their high-pitched rapid song. Breeds in summer.
