A breeding resident. The most widely recorded gamebird in the Waterberg, it occurs commonly and widely both here and in the surrounding thorn savanna (50% in, 50% out; recorded in 88% of the Waterberg pentads); in pairs year-round, accompanied by offspring after breeding. Breeds in early summer.
