A breeding resident. A mainly arid savanna species, it is more common in the surrounding thorn savanna than in the Waterberg where it occurs widely but sparsely – much less common here than Yellow-fronted Canary (40% in, 60% out; recorded in 46% of the Waterberg pentads); found in all types of woodland, in pairs or small flocks year-round. Breeds in summer.
