Colius striatus   Speckled Mousebird   Gevlekte Muisvoël

Modimolle, Aug 2017

A breeding resident. Fairly common, both across the Waterberg and in the surrounding thorn savanna (53% in, 47% out; recorded in 64% of the Waterberg pentads); favours thickets and perhaps its seeming absence from the central plateau and elsewhere is explained by this; like other mousebirds it is a group-living species, usually found in flocks of up to 10 birds. Breeds in summer.
