Probably a breeding resident. A thornveld species that is common and widespread across the surrounding thorn savanna but is generally scarce and localised in the Waterberg (43% in, 57% out; recorded in 67% of the Waterberg pentads); occurs singly or in pairs. Probably breeds in the Waterberg but thus far unrecorded.
