A breeding resident. Scarce and localised, mostly found in high-lying areas where Protea caffra, Protea roupelliae and/or Aloe arborescens grow and provide nectar sources (recorded in 14% of the Waterberg pentads); occurs singly or in pairs. Breeds in summer.
