An erratic visitor. Rare. Single birds or small groups make sporadic appearances on the larger farm dams when dropping water levels expose mud flats (recorded in 3% of the Waterberg pentads); there is no evidence of a permanent population residing in the Waterberg but imm birds in the area in Jan suggest that breeding may occur locally.
