This record is a big range extension for this species.
A breeding resident. A small isolated population of this South African endemic exists in the high-lying open country in and around Marakele National Park where it frequents the boulder-strewn plateau and upper-slopes at 1700-2000 m altitude (recorded in 3% of the Waterberg pentads); occurs here year-round in pairs or small family groups.
