A breeding resident. Occurs widely across the Waterberg and likely to occur in any marshy area where dense beds of sedges or Carex occur; localised but common in places (83% in, 17% out; recorded in 16% of the Waterberg pentads); a skulking species; in pairs while breeding; its presence is mostly detected from hearing the sound of its tripping song emanating from the undergrowth.
