A breeding resident. Common and widespread, it occurs throughout the Waterberg (recorded from 80% of the Waterberg pentads). If present, it is unlikely to go undetected given its raucous call and conspicuous nature – gaps in the map may reflect poor coverage rather than absence. Found in scattered pairs in summer, but often in groups or flocks in winter. Breeds in early summer.
