A breeding resident. Rare and very sparsely recorded across the Waterberg (recorded in 8% of the Waterberg pentads); usually single birds are encountered, in pairs while breeding; may occur anywhere but is typically found in tall broad-leafed woodland, especially along drainage lines. Breeds in summer.
