A breeding summer visitor, present between Nov and Mar. Common, occurring widely across the Waterberg; somewhat less frequently in the surrounding thorn savanna (61% in, 39% out; recorded in 72% of the Waterberg pentads). In contrast to the Little Swift it is not gregarious but occurs in scattered pairs; these are tied to nesting sites from which they range widely during the day but return to roost at night. This species typically commandeers the nest of a Greater or Lesser Striped Swallow for this purpose and their occupation of such a nest is revealed by the lining of white feathers that they add which protrude from the entrance to the nest . Breeds in summer.
