A non-breeding summer visitor from the Palearctic, present between Nov and Mar. Rare, recorded sparsely and patchily across the Waterberg (recorded in 10% of the Waterberg pentads); its occurrence seems associated with periods of sustained rain when flocks of dozens to a hundred or more birds may be encountered, these often mingling with other swifts and swallows overhead; is easily mistaken for African Black Swift.
