Probably resident as it has been recorded in both summer (Oct-Nov) and winter (May, Jun, Aug). Rare, with 12 occurrences currently reported, most from the mid-reaches of the Palala River catchment (recorded in 1% of the Waterberg pentads); frequents dense riparian woodland; males calling in Nov are suggestive of breeding activity but no breeding has been confirmed.
