An erratic visitor. A mainly arid savanna species it occurs widely in the surrounding thorn savanna but is scarce and mostly restricted to the fringes of the Waterberg (78% out, 22% in; recorded in 10% of the Waterberg pentads); occurs singly, in pairs or in small groups.
